Day 286

I had a great dream the other night. I dreamt that we adopted a little girl of about three years old. We haven't been talking about adopting ourselves, but we had been talking  about adoption with friends of ours who are adopting for a second time. I think that's why the adoption thing. Anyway, back to my dream.
For some reason friends had this child with them, and she was either abandoned or her patents died,  I don't know. I fell in love with her. I mean, it was one of those dreams where you sort of can feel the emotion outside your dream in real life, but you are still sleeping. However you explain it, I felt love in mt dream. I asked her if she wanted to come home with us, and she did. The emotions were intense, and I felt love for that child. I was almost disappointed to wake up, until I realized I was laying next to my beautiful wife and had a baby on the way. I think the love I felt in my dream is the love I have for them. Just a thought. God keep this one healthy please.

Day 221

Went to a wedding today, and it was really fun. The reception was one of the better ones I've been too. They had great food, great treats, a candy buffet, and something called Open Photo Booth. Basically, a guy had simple white paper backdrop, and the groom supplied props, and people posed how they wanted, as much time as they wanted. The photos were uploaded immediately onto facebook, on to Open Photo Booth's facebook page. Right after you got the photo taken, the photographer had a really nice printer printing off 4x6's to give to the guests. It took a while for people to start getting creative, but man did people start to get creative...and yes, at times inappropriate! Ha. Good times. It is a great idea, and a real money maker, I'm sure. Something perfect for a photographer who likes to interact with many people, and just have a fun time. the printer is 1700 dollars, though, so it's not a cheap start up! I feel like I'm just rambling.

Some else cool happened today as well. I got to see an old friend who I haven't seen in over 10 years. It was really neat to see him again (and see his wife and kids as well!). I hope it happens more often. Super nice people, and when I was sitting there chatting, I realized why I was friends with him back in the day. Good people...that's why. If you're reading this, D, thanks for the text today. I'm glad I saw you guys.

Day 160 - Of fathers and fatherhood

Father's day has come and went.

My dad is great. I've never doubted his commitment to us kids. He has worked close to 40 years with the same company, most of those years in order to financially support the family (with the help of mom). He gave up drinking for his kids and wife. He is funny. He is committed to his wife, my mother. He has opinions and isn't afraid to share them. He values time with his family. He's a good driver. His presence has been a comfort in my life (still is). He has a lot of practical knowledge. The list goes on. I don't know what else to say, other than I love that man, and I'm glad my parents had us when they were young, so we still have loooots of good years left.

I hope I can be a good father like you are.
